Because of the earthquake in January 2010, the children in Haiti did not have a summer break from school so they were not able to take part in the Summer Hosting Program over the summer. We are, Lord willing, replacing this with Christmas hosting and a Leadership Academy for Christmas 2010. Youth that have already lived in homes over previous summer months will be able to rejoin their family for Christmas. During this time several of the youth will begin training at our Leadership Academy. They will get basic training that will help prepare them, and teach them to prepare our other future leaders, for the 6 week Leadership Academy Summer of 2011. Our goal is to raise up leaders to make a difference in the country of Haiti.

- Expose the youth to family life where they can experience the love of a family in a family environment and where they can see first hand how a family operates and relates to one another under the guidelines of scripture.
- Provide discipleship opportunities for the children and youth.
- Provide the hope for a future.

What is the Summer Hosting Program?
A New Hope family hosts a Haiti youth in their home for a designated period of time (usually 4-6 weeks) during the summer months.
How are the youth chosen for the program?
We have a predetermined set of criteria which each youth must meet in order to be considered for the program. Some of the criteria are as follows:
- They have modeled leadership within the orphanage.
- They apply themselves in their school work in Haiti.
- Their behavior and actions in Haiti demonstrate a heart for God and a respect for authority.
- They are applying themselves to learn English.
- They have demonstrated a desire to learn more about God.
Each youth must complete an application to the program and must also present a cultural project for their host home during their stay.
Can I host a youth in my home?
Host homes must be members of New Hope Baptist Church and are required to first go to Haiti on mission. It is important to show an interest in their culture and also to experience their culture before having a youth in your home.
Host families must complete an application, they are required to have a background check and go through a training process.
