hi every one,
it is hard to enter, but during this week, begining on Sunday I was feeling really bad. I didn’t want tell any body when I got out of bed on Sunday. The next day was Monday and I just wake up and study my lesson for the exam I had to take at school. The time comes and I have to go to school. When I arrived I got my test and I finsh it but i don’t write my name on it. I feel so bad that i didn’t write my name ok. That afternoon I got in my bed and I tried to get some sleep but I woke up and I begin to vomit.

My oldest brother was there, he comes, he picks me up and I take shower. In 5mns he takes me to the hospital. Like my mom say in the first blog, it is not a hospital like we thought but I were in a tent.

While I am in the hospital i feel so so bad, and then i see my Mom comes to visits me. I don’t know she is there but she give a hug and i feel it. They tell her stand up don’t be on the bed. and when she tell me “I love you Mario” i say “I love you too Mom”. When she exit the hospital Mr Rick comes and he prays for me and after he goes valmond comes. He asked me if i am doing well I say “I am doing well in name of Jesus”.

Wednesday, i wake up in the morning, they just tell me i am ready to go. I am happy, my heart is openning, but after 3hours go by, I fell down and I cried.I ask God to help me in this situation, (that happen in 2 days again.)

On Wednsday morning at about 11am i take a seat outside with a friend who was helping me in every hard time. He helps me pray. We talk to each other and I say “this afternoon I have to leave the hospital in the name of Jesus” and he says “You have faith, that faith can move the mountains”. I says “Yes”. That word from God ok, and I go to take a bath. After 5mns they say my name to leave the hospital, I answer them I take a bath wait for me please. I had called my big brother to come and pick me up, when he cames they say my name again. He is happy but i am not feeling good, I am still in the same way I was. I talk to God, I say “God please give me strenght for I can leave the hospital.”. My brother and start to walk, we arrived at he front gates of the hospital, they open it for me, they give soap and other stuff. I leave. That’s when I think God says that I am not finish.
In the afternoon I arrived at the orphanage and I say hi to everyone and I take a nap. Mme Celianie speak with me and I answer her. she says “you have to take a bath” and i say “yes”. When I finish everybody thought i will die,it was my path. During the night i can’t sleep. I sleep for about 3hours. When I wake up in the morning I explain them what they tried to make me speak, ok. About 5hours later my old brother took me to another hospital. When i arrive I don’t feel good.

This week was so bad for me i hate this week in all the weeks i have in the past.

The doctor began to ask me what I feel, I explain it to them; they give me serum (2). I have a lot of my friend come to visit me at the hospital.

On friday, Mme valmond take me to her house and I take rest for a couple day.
Thank you Lord for the week. He gives safety and I wish the rest of the year will be good for me………..

Hi everyone, I am glad that you have got to know Mario this week. You will see on his last blog that he was not feeling well in the morning when he woke up. Yesterday, while I was away from the Orphange, Mario’s brother, Junior took Mario to the hospital. I was coming back from Port au Prince and God opened the door to allow me to go to the hospital and see him. I will tell more later but please pray for him. He was on fluids and a little incoherent, my heart broke. The hardest part was not being allowed to stay and not being allowed to stay by him long. The hospital is not as you know a hospital, it is a tent. That makes it harder to leave.
I will keep you posted but welcome your prayers.

The election results were released and we were safe at the hotel “just in case”. I am sure it will be covered on the news to some extent, but just to let you know from a personal perspective, it is all party hardy tonight here in Carrefour. Horns honking–major!!!! (yes, I know, they are always honking their horns, but this is constant nonstop like people have fallen asleep on their horns type of honking), fireworks–or is it guns–going off in the distance, radios and t.v’s blaring, chanting, and a bunch of happy aide workers at the hotel because they know they will be able to get home this week. That includes us! At least Celianie is telling me we should have no problems getting home. She said tomorrow life will be good for Haitians. Now she is not saying that he was the best choice, but she is saying that if he did not get in it would not be good for Haiti right now, so, it is best to give him a chance and make people happy.

Great day with the kids today. They are having exams and so they were studying this afternoon….wow, when did that happen? You would all be proud of them. They are trying.

Gotta go. Want to enjoy the celebration.

We are on day 2 of our 5 day stay in Haiti. Right now, the kids and I are enjoying a cool ocean breeze as we sit on the veranda at the Hotel Auberge. We arrived back at the hotel a little before dark, washed up quickly in our room, and headed out to the restaurant to get our food order in ASAP . The same waiter was here to serve us dinner as always and, just to make all you previous trip goers jealous, our food came in record time. Cheeseburger, French fries and a cheese pizza (sound familiar), no rice and beans tonight.

Our day has been a good combination of relaxation and enjoying the kids. After church was over, Celianie took us to see the kids. We enjoyed our normal attack of the loving children, Matt headed over to play basketball with the boys and Lauren disappeared with Sara Jean. I pulled out the “Barrel of Monkeys”. This was one of my favorite games as a kid so I thought maybe our kids would like it too. Yep, it was a HIT!!!! Major hit!!!!! (I enjoyed it as well). So team make a note, we can not come back without a Barrel of Monkeys on us. The only bummer now is that I am realizing in forgot it at the orphanage. Some day I will learn to collect my toys upon departure so I will have them for the rest of the trip. Might as well kiss those Monkeys good-bye. .

After leaving the youngins with the monkeys I had the awesome opportunity to spend time, one on one, with some of the kids who will be visiting us next year. This was nothing planned , however, one of the requirements to visit is a grasp of the English language. They have to sit down with me and be able to carry on a conversation in order to participate. I will “test” them within a month of their departure so they have plenty of time to meet this requirement. Ok, wow, that was the motivation that was needed! They are running with this. We have some serious and determined young adults who are going to excel at whatever they put their hearts to and right now their hearts are towards learning English! We will keep encouraging them as they continue to work so hard at this challenge. I am so thrilled.

As I was sitting there, Val walked in to get their Bible study underway. This is another requirement to come to the US: participation in a weekly Bible study. Val wanted to lead this himself to make sure it was done weekly and to make sure it was done right. He is modeling leadership so well for our youth. Let us remember to pray that they are all watching and they will learn from his example. The kids are given a passage of scripture to read and are told to be ready to discuss with him on Sunday. He had printed out sheets with questions on them to aid in the discussion. Lauren sat with Liliane and looked at the sheets. She was impressed. (It helps having someone who speaks French with me, even though she says she’s not as good as I think she is.) Since she has the ability to sit with the girls and talk about girl junk, I count her privileged to know the language. It is so important to be able to communicate. Praying all our kids will be English proficient by the time they leave. It is easier and much more productive to encourage them to learn English than for all of us to master French or Creole. Thimotee informed me that his professors said they will not be able to get a job when they graduate from University if they can’t speak English. He said you are not even considered for a job unless you can speak English. His is getting pretty good.

That’s all for now. We are all doing good and of course we covert your prayers for Monday when the election results are released. Praying the people will be peaceful.

Oh, and just so you all know, the Auberge has WIFI! I am typing this on my IPad sitting upstairs on the veranda. Can life get better than that? (well maybe, but for now this makes my life very good ).

Goodnight to all. Lauren and I are listening to “Lullaby and Goodnight” in French as it plays in the restaurant . No Celine Dion tonight. . It is starting to storm. We had rain last night and expect more tonight. Hope my WIFI keeps going so I get this published.

Love you all.

Rhodena

P.S. I talked with Thimotee today for quite some time. He said that he told some people at the University that he was living in an Orphange. They said “no” and “how can you come to university?” he said only people who have a mom and dad who have good jobs get to go to University. He says that he does not tell many people that he lives at the orphanage but when he does he tells them it is God. He also said that they look at his French/English dictionary and want to borrow it. He said he allows them to use it with him but not to take it home. I told him that was wise. Much more to share but that’s all for now.
Bon Nuit

I wanted to share some pictures of the Hosting Program this December. Sorry, I am so late in sharing.

Some of the purposes of the Hosting Program are to have the youth immersed into a family environment, to be loved on, to learn how to give love unconditionally and to give them an opportunity to attend leadership classes. We want them to see normal family living with all it’s giving and taking, chores and juggling of schedules etc.

This year was an exception to our normal program in that it was over Christmas. For the most part the kids were freezing the entire time, we did more activities than normal and they also got a taste of a more festive attitude as opposed to “normal everyday life”. But that’s good.

The joy of the Lord is our Strength.

Some went skating, at which they did awesome!!!

except the girls because they were to chicken to try, some of the youth even gave bowling a try (that was my birthday fun day). They also attended an ESL class and a 2 day leadership seminar put on by Get Real Ministries. If you notice the 11Alive video on the home page, that was done also while the kids were here. Hope you have time to watch.

Here are some pictures of their time. Sorry this is so late. I was looking through my pictures and some of these were to precious not to post.

Click on the links to enjoy a couple really short cute videos. I’d post them here but they are too big There are some pictures below to check out also.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the kids having some fun. Thanks for all your support. Please watch the 11Alive video on the home page. The leadership Seminar was great, but it is only one seminar, our job is to disciple not teach and leave and so we press on to meet that goal for 2011. I pray that God will find us faithful.

God is incredible. He loves these kids more than we do.
